| Community Connection Bill and Chris Lamon have always been community orientated, ever since their young adult life in the scouts, marching bands, and extracurricular activities associated with our work. While living and operating a business in Grand Forks, North Dakota, these two rallied all business owners and operators in a deteriorating part of town, into donating their time for a pancake breakfast on behalf of the American Red Cross. They remember, it was a February event, and sure enough, North Dakotas' winter was there to undermine this event. "Not so", Bill recalls with enthusiasm. "We had and excellent turn out, considering the morning temperature was -20F. The smell of sausage and pancakes greeted the patrons who really put forth an effort just to support our event, in this heck of a cold morning." The Lamons' today still see ways, though small, of helping out. Three Lakes Lions Club Though Bill isn't an active member at this point, he still finds ways to support this great organization through donations and direct involvement with its board member(s). Three Lakes Women's Club In the past, Chris has been very active with this impressive group of women. She had been directly involved in the construction of centerpieces, outstanding in her narrative at the Women's Fashion Show which donates all of its proceeds to the Care Bear Program at a local hospital. Three Lakes Information Bureau Our Bureau is the equivalent of a Chamber of Commerce. Bill has sat in on many board meetings since moving to Three Lakes. Though currently not serving on the Board, he had been a Regular Board Member. Lack of employees restricts their total commitment, they still find time to volunteer in the functions of the Bureau. Setting up for street events, aiding in the design of a welcome book, traffic control at the annual Wheel a Way event, and holiday decorating are the behind the scenes things they do with their local Chamber Pet Fashion Show This annual event is a hoot. It was started in 1999, and has grown in popularity. The young and old both enjoy dressing their loved ones up to show them off. The Pet Fashion Show has entrants which included dogs and cats, mice and rats, fish and bunnies, camels and lamas, yes you read that correctly. This is a free bee for all who wish to watch or compete of a pet prize. Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault The fall of 2006, Moosin' Around received a beautiful Christmas Tree, and wanted to donated it to someone who truly needed one to make "this" Christmas better. Bill & Chris have worked with this noble group over the years, and knew they had just the right person in need for this tree. |
